![]() Daily clean, intense, and sensitive cover your different speeds/strengths and are all you need for all tasks. The colour screen is literally just cosmetic and the extra brush modes aren’t ones that I ever use. Honestly none of those are game changers for the price difference. I think it’s still handy at times for developing a brushing pattern and to see where you tend to press too hard but you probably shouldn’t rely on it solely to assume you have complete brushing coverage and/or a proper brush time.Īside from the 3d tracking the advantage of the IO9 is that you get a colour screen and an extra brush mode or 2. The app even warns you that you’re brushing too long. I’ve tried many times and it always takes me 3.5 to 4 minutes to get 100% coverage which is way too long and not recommended. Also the goal is obviously to get 100% cleaning coverage but I find this impossible to do within the recommended 2 minute brush time. It does a good job knowing which of the 6 areas of the mouth I’m currently brushing but within that it doesnt seem so precise to know which individual tooth/space/etc needs more attention. The 3D tracking tbh is neat but I question it’s effectiveness a bit. It is also significantly more quiet than my other oral-b and more quiet than the sonicare as well. I like the ability to choose your brushing mode before turning the brush on and the fast charging is very nice as well, especially for those who don’t constantly store their brush on the base. Other features of the IO I really like compared to my previous Oral-B genius is the pressure sensor which doesn’t just indicate when you’re pressing too hard, but shows you when you’re using the right amount of pressure. It’s kind of like an oral-b/sonicare hybrid. The cleaning quality does feel a little better. It feels smoother and more gentle while agitating toothpaste more between the teeth. It maintains the same style of round head and movement but moves with a much quicker soniccare-like speed. I’ve been using the IO 9 for about a month now and it is my new favorite brush. I like that I can hold the oral-b handle vertically or horizontally without affecting the brush direction/pattern. The smaller round head and rotational movement allows for a better tooth by tooth cleaning imo while the larger sonic-care head overlaps multiple teeth and is harder to angle in between teeth and get behind your front teeth and back molars. I have a soniccare and Oral-b and have always preferred the oral-b due to the brush head. ![]() I really like the coverage map, which shows you how well you are brushing different areas of your mouth.Ĭonclusion: the iO is very similar to Sonicare, brushes really well, and has great bonus features. It accurately tracks your brushing and has tons of brush data available to you. The round toothbrush head really gets the tight spots. And comes with a charging traveling case. The design is nice and sleek, and the lcd screen is a bonus. It's not as aggressive as the traditional ossiclating rotating oral B brushes. The brush movement is very similar in feel to the Sonicare movement. But a friend convinced me to try the iO, and I took him up on it. I also like the design and the ability to adjust vibration intensity. They're not as aggressive, and the vibration makes your mouth feel really clean and it froths up the toothpaste really well. I've always preffered Sonicare toothbrushes.
